Starting on July 1 this year, Copa Airlines travelers coming from South America can connect to Bocas del Toro, through the Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport, on flights operated by Air Panama

  • The packages are promoted by Copa Vacations through their wholesalers in Brazil and Argentina.

  • This is a joint effort made by the ATP, Copa Airlines and Air Panama to promote Bocas del Toro as a tourist destination at an international level.

Panama City, July 19, 2012. - The Panama Tourism Authority and the Panamanian airlines Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, SA {NYSE: CPA} and AirPanama, announced today that Copa Airlines travelers coming from South America whom wish to visit Bocas del Toro,  can now do so, as of July 1, by connecting with a direct flight on Air Panama, which departs from the Hub of the Americas-the hub for Copa Airlines at Tocumen International Airport.

The new route is the culmination of agreements between the ATP and each of the Panamanian airlines, with the aim of promoting Bocas del Toro as a tourist destination at an international level. The flight, which will connect Colon Island in Bocas del Toro with Panama City, through the Tocumen International Airport, will allow this province in western Panama to become integrated into the supply of tourist destinations that Copa Airlines provides to its wholesalers in Brazil and Argentina, as part of the Copa Vacations tour packages.

"Copa Airlines is pleased to carry out this agreement with the ATP, since with this new connection we are supporting the promotion of our country as a tourism destination abroad, by

connecting our passengers from Brazil and Argentina with one of the principal tourist regions of Panama," said the CEO of Copa Airlines, Pedro Heilbron.

"The connection of such an attractive destination as Bocas del Toro with important  markets like Brazil and Argentina, via Copa Airlines flights, is an open door to numerous opportunities that the tourism sector should take advantage of," noted Salo Shamah, General Manager of the ATP.

"By offering this connection, in conjunction with COPA and with the support of the ATP, we contribute to the development of this destination for the benefit of all."

The route will be flown twice weekly, departing Thursday and Sunday at 10:30 am to arrive at Colon Island at 11:36 am, and returning those same days at 12:10 pm with an arrival at the Tocumen Airport at 1:16 pm. The flights leave from the domestic terminal at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City.
