Support local education!

Saturday, February 11th is Give & Surf’s 4th Annual BacktoSchool Fundraiser and will include a surf contest for all ages & levels starting at 9am at Paki Point (please check the fb page to the conditions of the waves) and an auction with live music & a fire show at Bocas Bambu from 7 to 11pm. This year’s goal is to raise $15,000 between the events & online fundraiser, all of which supports high school and university scholarships as well as educational programs for local students living in eight different communities on five of the Bocas islands. “It’s amazing that each year more and more businesses and local residents step up to support the local students,” says Neil Christiansen, Give & Surf’s President & Founder, “and more importantly that each year more and more students are applying for scholarships and participating in programs.” Access to education is the top priority of Give & Surf and as more support and funding becomes available, they have continued to expand their programs and services.

A special thanks to Melissa Grani, Paki Gale, Juan David Isaac, & Marti Kirschman who help plan and to Paki Point and Bocas Bambu for hosting the two events on February 11th.

“Give & Surf is a volunteer driven organization,” states Neil, “it is thanks to hundreds of volunteers from around the world and growing number of local volunteers that we are able to do what we do.” How can you help make a difference?
