This past Saturday evening Indi Lounge was the place to be! Give and Surf hosted its 3rd Annual Back to School Bash, and the community was out in force. People from Bocas del Toro and visitors from around the world gathered to enjoy a night of fantastic art, friendship, fun and compassion. They were dancing in the street to funky DJ Jankis followed by fabulous live music by one of the islands favorite bands, Spacetrain and its special guests, with reggae and rappers joining in. With over 100 items donated by local businesses in a silent auction, a raffle for great prizes and the opportunity to sponsor the educational needs of an indigenous child, people gave and gave. The silent auction, raffle and proceeds from all drinks purchased at the bar raised an incredible $5,500 in only 4 hours. That money in addition to the online campaign as well as private donations set the grand total for this fundraiser at $17,000, which is over and above what Neil Christiansen and Emily Talentino of Give and Surf were expecting. They set a goal for this fundraiser to be $14,000, but with all of their hard work and the generous hearts of the Bocas community both near and far, they exceeded it!
